During the time around 2010 is one time period of economic prosperity in China. As a child who was born around 2002, and happened to witness events such as the Beijing Olympics and Shanghai Expo happening. “One World, One Dream” is the slogan used for marketing of the event. “Family Album” is a concept hidden behind time and memory. While in that decade, there are so many photos in my family album, where everyone in the photos are content and satisfied with their life.

But after 2010, there is silence. No photos, no videos, no sounds—just a void. The gap makes me question: What changed? In 2023 When I moved back home from the United States, I began consciously photographing my family. I realized I had become the thread that connected our memories. Photography, for me, became a way to heal—a means of looking at the past honestly, and of daring to begin again.

This project is structured around that rupture. Photos from before 2010 and photos from my present are interweaving with each other. By intentional imitation and observation of my present time, I’m trying to regain what’s lost.
